We understand that sometimes people are willing to help, but don’t necessarily have the ability to commit a whole week to become a host family. Below are a few areas that we always are looking for volunteers to help out with.
Each child at camp receives a hand made pillow case. If you are interested in sewing some (pattern provided) or providing some supplies for another person to sew them please contact Sara VandeGuchte at 616-318-3204.
We have lots of kids who enjoy doing crafts while at Starlite Shores. If you’re interested in donating some craft supplies or an idea for a kids craft please contact Carmen Diekevers at 616-813-9385.
You would need to show up to camp from 9:00 a.m.–noon and serve in a Flip Flop Group interacting with the kids while the retreat parents are in Come 2 Gather.
If you enjoy hanging up decorations (which are provided) and transforming the dining hall into a new place this is an opportunity for you. Contact Carmen Diekevers at 616-813-9385 if interested in this opportunity.
We would love it if you would be in prayer for the retreat families, the volunteer families and the leadership team of SSFC. Your prayers for the children who are living with childhood cancer that they would have a great time at camp with other kids who are walking the cancer journey would be appreciated. Specific prayers for warm summer weather, for families to connect with each other and that we will give all the glory to God for this awesome opportunity to serve these special families.
